Daeho started his career as a patent attorney at Seoul firm Park, Kim & Partner, where he worked on patent cases of one of Korea’s major conglomerates. Daeho continued his career as a patent attorney after being recruited by the 3G LTE Technology and Semiconductor Manufacturing Technology Team at Nam & Nam, where he worked on the licensing of patent rights for 3G mobile technology and semiconductor manufacturing technology. While at Nam & Nam, he also enjoyed success as the leader of the firm’s IP Analysis Team, which handled patent analysis projects for another of Korea’s major conglomerates. Daeho founded PI IP LAW in 2013 and is the firm’s Managing Partner. His areas of biggest expertise are mobile handheld devices, 3GPP LTE standards, MPEG standards, digital televisions and other technical areas requiring a background in electronic engineering. Since 2013, he has represented a Korean deep learning based artificial intelligence (AI) startup, which has received the highest valuation among Korean AI startups. Daeho’s hands-on involvement in AI technology has allowed him to develop impressive expertise in this cutting-edge technological area and earn widespread recognition as a leading expert in AI patents. He has also established a successful team within PI IP LAW that focuses on AI patents. He is also experienced in trademark, design and copyright matters and has a keen interest in all matters related to IP finance. In 2017, Daeho managed to register several sound marks for Korean celebrities’ catchphrases, an achievement that was featured in the national media as a landmark case in IP. He is a member and regular attendee of the conferences of the International Trademark Association (INTA), the German Association of Intellectual Property Experts (VPP), the Asian Patent Attorneys Association (APAA) and the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI). Daeho serves as a lecturer on patent law for the Korea Invention Promotion Association and as a member of the audit committee of the National IT Industry Promotion Agency. He was previously a member of the examination committee for the Korean Patent Bar and was recently designated as a court translator by the Korean Patent Court. In his free time, he enjoys Jiu-Jitsu and working on his technique for cooking the perfect steak.
